Topic This Week: Who is your favorite author? What is your favorite book?
I despise those questions. (Me too, Natalie. I think Tasha was trying to torture us by asking this question. LOL) Why? Simple, I cannot answer them. I do not favor just one author over another, and I love so many books that I couldn’t pick just one.
What I can tell you is that my favorite genre is young adult paranormal romance. I absolutely love that stuff. In the beginning it was YA vampire’s that I couldn’t get enough of. Twilight by Stephanie Meyers started it. Then I moved on to other vamp series; Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead, Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine, Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz, and House of Night by PC & Kristin Cast.
Taking a break from the Vampire series I decided to branch out and read The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater, and I fell in love with Sam and Grace. From there I went on to read Maggie’s Fae series with Lament and Ballad. I eagerly await the third in its series, Requiem due out in 2013 sometime.
Those stories opened my eyes to other genres, and I went on to read and enjoy dystopian books like – The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. And most recently, Ally Condie’s Matched Trilogy.
I don’t discriminate against Indie author’s either. My favorite Indie author has to be Shelly Crane with her Significance Series. Amanda Hocking is also on the Indie list for me with her My Blood Approves Series. Both of those series are wow, just wow!
I could be here all day jumping around to my favorite stories but I will leave you with a couple more of my favorites: The Iron King Series, by Julie Kagawa, and The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare.
Why do I enjoy these kinds of stories?
Simple. The stories take me away from the here and now. I get to explore new exciting worlds that are not of the one we live in. The young adult books I read are mostly done with a romantic youthful innocence. Add that all up and it makes for a good read in my mind!
To follow what I’m reading, and see how I rate those stories, follow me on goodreads:
